Anonymous asked: Hey, I don't know if you answer questions like these or not but i thought might as well give it a shot haha. So my hair is like super super curly and I'm also brown so it would be weird if I left it out so I straighten it like all the time, everywhere I go and now it's really damaged.. I have soo many split ends and my hair is quite burnt, any tips on how to fix this?? Or something else I could do w/ my hair? Thanks :)

Hey! I would cut it and let it grow out. Straightening really damages hair a lot and it is also tedious. A lot of repair products may just add more chemicals to your hair so I would suggest just cutting it and putting coconut oil often (or any oil, really) and just letting it grow back. Try a short look for a bit ;)

The Mane Secrets PT.1. | So hair questions are undoubtedly the most frequent questions I am getting and I am finally getting around to dedicating a post to the MANE so that you guys can get the scoop on what I use and how I get it to be the way it is. Most days my hair is curly, simply because it is naturally curly. My sisters and I were all born with very curly hair, some more than others. I actually fall into the middle of the curly spectrum in my family. Normally I just wash my hair with Pantene Pro-V Shampoo and Conditioner and then let it AIR DRY. My hair dries very fast so it usually just remains curly and big. Because it’s curly it gets heavy which is why I love my headwraps because I can use them to cover it up and just “put it away” while being versatile. Sometimes I use my wand or curling iron to enhance the curls. I usually have to do more enhancing as I continue to wash it more and more, so as I wash it throughout the week it looses the curl a little bit and becomes just big and frizzy/wavy. (Another time where the headwrap comes in handy.) The ultimate curl is usually the first time I wash it after it is straight. My hair doesn’t get oily so I’m usually able to keep my hair styled for at least 3 days and it won’t loose it’s look. To keep the curl/style I just use TreSemme Medium Hold Hairspray or Pantene Hairspray. Truth be told, when my hair is curly (which is 90% of the time) there is really no work or special products involved, I just “wash, hairspray and go” and then occasionally use the wand to enhance the curls. I’ll do another post on wavy and straight hair as well…WHEN I get around to doing my hair, lol, because as you will soon find out straightening or waving the mane is a whole different time-consuming process! Open yourself up to trying new things…If you never wear colour, try it, even if that means wearing it alone in a room. If you haven’t tried yoga or haven’t played any sport since highschool, get up and try it now. Allowing yourself to open up gives you more options and helps you let go of insecurities. If there is something that scares you or makes you apprehensive, go ahead and try it simply because it gives you those feelings. When you see the positive effects of how being able to make these bold decisions makes you feel, you won’t regret it. You certainly feel stronger. For me Yoga and ‘working out’ was and still is one of those things. As someone who grew up with dance, I always had a different form of physical education in my life and always got my dose through dance, however now I always feel apprehensive of going to the gym and doing yoga or working out at home even, mostly because there are so many things I use to convince myself not to do it. However, the fact that I am doing that is reason enough for me to get up and spend 20 minutes a day on it. Yesterday, I literally just did crunches, squats and planks for 15 minutes…that’s it, and in the end I felt proud because at least I opened myself up enough to do that much rather than convincing myself out of it. Some things may sound ridiculous and useless, but when it comes to health and wellness and your overall happiness, nothing is ridiculous, open yourself up and do the things that scare you and try different things everyday to build a stronger more individual YOU. | @thesandylion @hetsp | #ESSKAYJI #hetsp
